Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data SeeSeen collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1) Summary
- SeeSeen is a map-first community app with posts and user-hosted activities.
- Location is optional and user-controlled (device location, map center, searched place, or off).
- We use account and security data to run the service, prevent abuse, and support moderation.
- We do not sell your personal information.
2) Data we collect
2.1 Account data
- Sign-in identifiers (e.g., Apple/Google sign-in ID, email address provided by the sign-in provider).
- Profile data you choose to provide (display name, avatar, bio, language settings).
2.2 Content you create
- Posts and replies (text, images, video, audio) you submit.
- Activity content: activity title, description, time, place info, and optional media.
- Reports you submit and any evidence you attach (e.g., screenshots).
2.3 Usage and device data
- Basic app diagnostics (app version, device model, OS version) to troubleshoot issues.
- Push notification token (if you enable notifications) so we can deliver notifications.
- Log records necessary for security, abuse prevention, and service reliability.
3) How we use data
- Provide core features (posts, replies, activities, notifications).
- Safety and integrity (spam prevention, abuse handling, responding to reports).
- Improve the app (debugging crashes, performance, feature quality).
- Subscription management (if you purchase Premium through Apple In‑App Purchase).
4) Sharing and disclosure
- Public content: posts and activities may be visible to other users depending on your audience/visibility settings.
- Service providers: we may use infrastructure providers to store media and run the service. They process data only to provide the service to us.
- Legal and safety: we may disclose information if required by law or to address fraud, security, or safety issues.
5) Location information
SeeSeen can use location to show nearby posts and activities. You control how location is used:
- Device location: uses your device GPS location when enabled.
- Map center: uses the map center you are viewing.
- Searched place: uses a location you select via search.
- Off: you can post or create a private activity without attaching a location.
We do not continuously collect background location for posting. Location is only used when you choose a location mode.
In some cases, SeeSeen may display a visual indicator (for example, a solid or dashed outline) to reflect the location source selected at the time of posting:
- On-site (solid): the post was created using device location.
- Remote (dashed): the post was created using a map center or a searched place.
This indicator is informational only and may not be perfectly accurate. It does not verify that a user was physically present at a location, and it does not mean that SeeSeen tracks users in the background or continuously updates their location.
6) User-generated content and safety
- We provide reporting and blocking tools. We may review reports and take action (content removal, restrictions, suspension).
- To protect the community, we may retain limited evidence related to safety reports for a reasonable period as required for moderation and compliance.
- Never share sensitive personal information in posts, replies, or activity pages.
7) Data retention
- We retain data for as long as needed to operate the service and comply with legal obligations.
- Some content may have time-based retention depending on your plan (see Premium page).
- Moderation and security logs may be retained for a limited time to investigate abuse and protect users.
8) Your choices and rights
- You can update profile information inside the app.
- You can block users and report content.
- You can request account deletion in the app. Deletion may remove or anonymize your data depending on safety and compliance needs.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
